Wiggle Giggle and Munch
This is a physical and nutrition program for preschoolers and their parents to promote the benefits of physical activity, to encourage healthy living, and to provide a safe environment. This environment will allow families to get to know one another and strengthen their community ties. Must pre-register!
This is an 8 session program that is offered once a week for children aged 3-6. The program promotes the healthy, happy habit of learning music. Included in each session are fine and gross motor skill activities, playing of rhythm instruments and rhythm development. Must pre-register!
Mommy & Me Book Club
Meet weekly to participate in a fun filled afternoon, sharing stories and creating masterpieces. Each week a different story genre will be explored and you will be able to take your own story book home with you! Must pre-register!
Kids Have Stress Too
A three-part program designed to help parents and caregivers better understand stress. Also helps you, the parent, teach your child or children ways to manage stress. It is a win-win session, as it reminds us about what skills we need to continue using ourselves to cope with STRESS! Must pre-register!
Roots of Empathy
This is an evidence-based classroom program that has an effect in reducing levels of aggression among school children and raises social and emotional competence, as well as, increases empathy.
Tools for School
This is a program provides the opportunity for children and their caregivers to work together to become ready for school. It is a play-based program that promotes key skills such as team work, listening, waiting in turn and cooperation. For children who will start Kindergarten in the following year. Must pre-register!
This is a 4 week program for preschool children and their parents/caregivers. Children will learn basic science information. They will learn hands on through experiments fun filled activities and messy play.
Drop In Play
Provides fun and learning for preschool children and their mom, dad or caregivers. Special guests, outings and events are planned throughout the year. Provides a chance for families to socialize and meet new friends. We encourage parent/child interaction and we appreciate parent involvement in the program. Each two hour playgroup includes free play, craft time, snack time, and circle time (for stories and songs).
This is a four week program for children and their parents which focus on learning more about proper nutrition. Children learn basic cooking skills, can try new foods and learn about Canada’s Food Guide all while having fun!
This is a four week program for children and their parents/caregivers. Children will learn basic artistic skills, can try new techniques of painting, coloring, and crafts etc, all while having fun!
Family Fun Camps
These are summer-long programs for children ages 0 – 6 years of age with their parents/caregivers. In each session children have free play, snack time, craft time, and circle time as well as a fun summer activity. There is also an outing once a week to go along with the theme for the week.
A time for moms and babies to build knowledge and friendship. Each session begins with a brief educational topic followed by a time for socialization. The group is open to moms with babies up to 12 months of age. There is onsite childcare available for preschool children.
This 4 week program will be held in the evenings at our Kids West Centre 630 Main St. Alberton. We will be going over such things as, Breastfeeding, Skin to Skin, Fetal Development, Postpartum Care, Cloth Diapering, Car Seat Safety, etc.. This is a support group offered at Westisle Composite High School for teen parents. It is a support group where teen parents can get together in a comfortable and confidential environment and ask questions about what they are experiencing as new parents along with hearing other teen parents’ struggles and successes.
Kids West offers prenatal classes through Public Health for expecting parents. During the 6 sessions expecting parents will have the opportunity to learn important information on how to stay healthy during their pregnancy, along with some things to expect after giving birth, they will also have the opportunity to ask questions that they may have about being pregnant or giving birth. At the end of the 6 sessions participants will have the opportunity to go to the Prince County Hospital where they will get a tout of the unit where their baby will be born, and they also get to explore the delivery rooms and the different equipment as well.
